Someone said this first, but there seems to be some disagreement as to whether it was the poet, playwright and novelist Oscar Wilde or the American humorist Will Rogers. The saying IS engraved on a plaque at his memorial, so even if he didn't originate the line, he must have said it enough times to make, yes, an impression.
